Hello, my friendly C++ teacher
For this special occasion, on Feb 6, 2023, I’m writing this post myself, without the help of ChatGPT. Today I’m excited to present our new project to the world, named “Hello, my friendly C++ teacher”. This is a series of free e-books that contains an unedited collection of conversations between a student and an AI teacher. I have undertaken this project as a genuine learner of computer science.
The documentation contained in this course is made available for several purposes. Like I said in the pre-launch interview, this is really a demonstration. It is a snapshot of the current state of AI learning as of February 2023. I’m convinced that this book, which seems surprising today, especially for those who may not have kept up with the latest developments in the field, is but a glimpse of what the future may hold in this regard.
You can read the e-books for enjoyment and to learn more about AI-assisted education, or as a simple curiosity of the internet. You can follow my journey as I learn and understand complex concepts (sometimes literally). It’s certainly possible to adapt the prompt engineering I used in the making of the course for other purposes. Should someone become a skilled programmer in the future and make some important software, or a good game, after following this course, it would be something.
I was on a tight schedule while creating the course, since I was basically freeloading the ChatGPT beta test. I was uncertain of the availability and duration of the free beta service. The quality of the service can also vary over time as they change the implementation. Despite this, I feel like I went through the course at a reasonable pace for my learning ability. I’m obviously not done studying the books, as I took a little break and had to spend time preparing this release.
Overall I am happy with the result of this experiment, and believe the books have great value; the AI seemed to agree when I had it make assessments. They are perhaps uneven, and this is probably a side-effect of the fact that I was learning as I went. Some of the tables of contents could have been better, I did what I could. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to programming and advanced AI interaction, despite the challenge and uncertainly involved in its creation. I hope you will enjoy this innovative learning program as well, and that it may help you get closer to your goals.
